Eight Riders Named to IHSA National All-Academic Squad

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) recently announced its National All-Academic squad and eight Washington and Lee riding members were honored.

Juniors Camille Cobb (Huntersville, N.C./Harding University) and Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville), and sophomore Keriann Laubach (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) were named to the first team, while seniors Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School), Caitlin McCurdy (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and Jillian O'Donnell (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill School), and sophomores Gina Bufton (Preston, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) and Stephanie Malaska (Redmond, Wash./Eastside Catholic) were all named to the second team.

The purpose of the IHSA National All-Academic Award is to recognize the individual academic achievements of participating IHSA undergraduate and alumni members. First team honorees have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 or higher, while second team honorees have attained a 3.5 or higher grade point average. 

W&L riding concluded its 2011 team season with a third-place finish at the ODAC Championship. Morse and Lemon both earned First Team All-ODAC honors, and Morse was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
