ROANOKE, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team took part in the 52nd annual Hollins Horse Show on Saturday in preparation for the ODAC Championships on Friday.
The Generals had two event champions on the day, with sophomore Molly Rountree (Andover, Mass./Philips Academy) earning the win in the low hunter division while junior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) finished tops in the working hunter division.
Rountree took first in the under saddle class and finished second both over fences classes en route to claiming the low hunter championship. She was followed by senior Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) in the division, who earned reserve champion honors after finishing first in both over fences classes. First-year Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) also placed in the event, taking fifth in the over fences classes.
In the working hunter division, Morse claimed the championship with wins in both over fences classes and a second-place finish in the under saddle class. Lemon also took part in the working hunter division and was named the reserve champion after finishing in second place in both over fences classes.
W&L returns to action on Friday as it takes part in the ODAC Championships, hosted by Hollins University.
