W&L Riding Places Eighth at IHSA Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team began its postseason on Sunday by participating in the IHSA Zone 4, Region 2 Championship held at The Barracks at the University of Virginia on Sunday afternoon.

The Generals finished eighth of 11 teams at the regional championship with 170 points.  Bridgewater College took home the team championship with 260 points, followed by Hollins (250), Lynchburg (243), Sweet Briar (221), James Madison (181), Randolph (172), Virginia (171), W&L (170), Longwood (91), Roanoke (74) and Radford (41).

Individually for the Generals, junior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) finished as the regional champion in the open equitation on the flat and was the overall high-point rider in the Cacchione Cup standings with 61 total points, eight points better than Kelly Gerland of Lynchburg College.

Also for W&L, senior Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) finished sixth in the cup standings with 35 total points.
