W&L Riding Competes at Bridgewater Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team took part in the Bridgewater Invitational on Saturday, finishing eighth out of 10 teams.

For the second consecutive week, junior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) earned high point rider honors. She was named the reserve champion after finishing first in the open equitation on the flat and fifth in the open equitation over fences, winning the open equitation on the flat after taking part in a three-way ride off. The victory also secured her second-consecutive opportunity to compete in the open flat division during regional competition on Feb. 20 at the University of Virginia and moved her into sole possession of the top spot in the Cacchione individual rider standings.

Other top finishes for the Generals at the invite included senior Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) taking third in the open equitation on the flat and fourth in the open equitation over fences and first-year Juli Sorenson (Spring Valley, Calif./Grossmont) finishing fourth in the walk-trot-canter.

The Generals return to action on Saturday, taking part in the Hollins Invitational.
