W&L Riding Concludes Fall with Third-Place Finish at Hollins

ROANOKE, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team concluded its fall season with a third-place finish at the Hollins University Invitational on Sunday.

Lynchburg College finished in first place with 43 points, followed by Sweet Briar (37), W&L (34), Hollins and Bridgewater (32), James Madison (23), University of  Virginia (22), Randolph (18), Longwood (10) and Roanoke and Radford (7).

The Generals had two event winners at the invite, with senior Elsa Friis (Brookeville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) claiming the novice equitation on the flat, and first-year Juli Sorenson (Spring Valley, Calif./Grossmont) winning the beginner walk-trot-canter.

W&L also recorded a trio of second-place finishes, including senior Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) and junior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) in the open equitation over fences and Morse in the open equitation on the flat.

The Generals return to action on February 4, when they take part in the Randolph College Invitational.
