
HOLLINS, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team placed second out of 12 teams competing at the Hollins Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Generals were led by sophomore Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville), who finished first in the open flat and tied for third in the open fences. First-year Molly Rountree (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy) received a blue ribbon in the intermediate fences, while first-year Evelyn Norton (Elon, N.C./Caldwell Academy) clinched second place for W&L as a team with a top finish in the walk-trot.
Morse and junior Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) both remained in the Top 6 for the Cacchione Cup for the region's top rider. Morse is ranked second, while Lemon is sixth.
W&L returns to action on Sunday with the UVA Invitational and IHSA Regionals.
