W&L Riding Competes at Bridgewater IHSA Event

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team finished fifth out of 10 teams at the Bridgewater College IHSA meet held on Saturday afternoon.

The Generals were led by sophomore Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) and first-year Collier McLeod (Augusta, Ga./Augusta Prep), who competed in a four-way ride-off with two riders from Hollins for the high-point rider honors.  Morse finished as the championship tricolor, while McLeod was the reserve.

Morse finished first in the open flat and third in the over fences, while McLeod was first in the intermediate flat and third in the intermediate fences.

Junior Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) and senior Brooks Vardell (Larchmont, N.Y./Rye Country Day) both finished second in the open flat and first-year Keriann Laubach (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) was second in the walk-trot-canter.

The Generals also compete on Sunday in the University of Virginia event.
