W&L Riding Takes Part in Collegiate Cup
LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team of
sophomore Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville), junior Allison
Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) and first-year Collier
McLeod (Augusta, Ga./Augusta Prep) finished third at the Collegiate
Cup held at the Virginia Horse Center on Saturday afternoon.
Morse, Lemon and McLeod took the third spot behind teams from
University of Virginia and Virginia Intermont. The team of senior
Emily Coyle (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside), junior Caitlin McCurdy
(Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and Hollins’ Elysse Stolpe
also competed, finishing seventh.
Lemon had the strongest individual showing, finishing as the high
scorer in the intermediate over fences, while claiming the
championship in the adult amateur hunter division, second in the
ariat adult medal class and third in the intermediate flat. She
also received best adult amateur rider accolades during the
competition.
Other top finishes for the Generals included Morse taking third in
the open flat and McLeod taking the fourth spot in the novice
flat.
The Generals will return to action on Apr. 9 as they take part in
the ODAC Championship, hosted by Randolph College.
