W&L Riding Finishes Fifth at University of Virginia IHSA Meet
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The
Washington and Lee riding team finished fifth out of 10 teams at
the University of Virginia IHSA meet held on Sunday afternoon.
Lynchburg College won the event with 34 points, while Hollins (32),
Sweet Briar (23), Bridgewater (22) and W&L (19) rounded-out the
top five teams.
The Generals were led by sophomore Tamara Morse (Bristow,
Va./Brentsville), who finished as the high point rider for the
event. It was her second high point rider finish of the weekend, as
she also took the title on Saturday at the Bridgewater ISHA meet.
Morse claimed runner-up finishes in both the open equitation on the
flat and open equitation over fences on Sunday.
First-year Collier McLeod (Augusta, Va./Augusta Prep) also finished
with a second place finish for the Generals in the intermediate
equitation on the fence. W&L received strong finishes from
junior Caitlin McCurdy (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), who placed
fourth in the novice equitation on the flat, while senior Amy
Conant (Kearneysville, W.Va./Jefferson) finished sixth in the
advanced walk-trot-canter.
The competition concluded the fall schedule for the W&L riding
team. They will return to action Feb. 5 at the Randolph
