BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The 31st-ranked Washington and Lee men's cross country team finished 17th out of 24 non-Division I teams in the 8k Brown Race at the Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh University.
The Generals totaled a team score of 418 points. Queen's University claimed first with 64 points, Shippensburg was second (106 points) and 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon took third (138 points).
Junior Patrick Hunter (Harrisburg, N.C./Cannon School) led the Blue and White by taking 42nd out of 206 runners with a time of 25:34. Junior Hank Patrick (Baton Rouge, La./University Laboratory School) finished 81st in 26:09.
Sophomore Austin Kinne (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) placed 84th (26:11), and first-year Freddie Marx (Greensboro, N.C./Walter Hines Page) was 92nd (26:15). First-year Daniel Cope (Dallas, Texas/St. Mark's School) rounded out the scoring in 119th with a time of 26:45. Junior Alex Dolwick (Apex, N.C./GRACE Christian School) completed the race in 27:15, and junior Joe Carmody (Clive, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) crossed the finish line in 27:23.
Senior Austin Cooper of IUP was the top individual in the race, registering a time of 24:35.
The Generals return to action on Saturday, October 14 at the Cowbell Classic hosted by Principia College with the race starting at 12:00 pm.
