No. 29 W&L Men's Cross Country Places Third at Hornet Harrier

WINCHESTER, Va. — The 29th-ranked Washington and Lee men's cross country team held out its Top 5 runners, but still finished third out of nine teams at the 2017 Shenandoah Hornet Harrier on Saturday at the Kernstown Battlefield.

Baldwin Wallace earned the team title with 26 points, Shenandoah was second (93 points) and the Generals totaled 107 points.

On the 6k course, sophomore Austin Kinne (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led the Blue and White with an eighth-place finish (20:18.60) out of 88 competitors.  Junior Alex Dolwick (Apex, N.C./GRACE Christian School) placed 18th in 20:40.20, and junior Joe Carmody (Clive, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) was 21st (20:51.10).

Junior Calvin Riss (Longmont, Colo./Peak to Peak Charter School) took 26th with a time of 21:03.30, and first-year Sam Noden (Princeton, N.J./Lawrenceville School) rounded out the scoring in 43rd (22:11.50). Sophomore Isaac Wilson of Baldwin Wallace claimed the individual title in 19:34.20.

The Generals' top runners will be in action at the Paul Short Run on Friday at 12:15 pm.
