W&L Men's Cross Country Takes 15th at Regional
ATLANTA, Ga. — At the NCAA South/Southeast Regional, the Washington and Lee men's cross country team took 15th of 23 schools with 419 points. Lynchburg took the title with 48 points, Trinity (Texas) placed second (86 points) and Bridgewater finished third (129 points).
First-year Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) was the top finisher for the Generals taking 71st with a time of 28:09.70. Sophomore Scott Sugden (Circle Pines, Minn.) was two spots behind Warring in 73rd at 28:15.35.
Crossing the finish line 99th was sophomore Michael Bronstien (Canton, Mass./Canton) in 29:13.69. First-year Jake Mack (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) came in 103rd with a time of 29:16.46 and first-year Blake Liebling (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) rounded out the scoring in 109th at 29:35.15.
Junior John Kieffer of Centre won the individual race with a time of 25:17.37. Junior Cody Stanton of Lynchburg took second (25:22.36) and junior Andris Goncarovs of Guilford placed third (25:56.53).
The 15th-place finish at regionals ends the season for the Generals in which they finished fifth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
