W&L Cross Country Teams Sweep Weekly Honor

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its athlete of the week honors
on Monday afternoon and Washington and Lee captured both the
men’s and women’s cross country awards.
First-year Harrison Tucker (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher’s)
won the men’s award after he won the men’s portion of
the W&L Invitational on Saturday. First-year Lauren Schultz
(Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) was honored for the women following
her second-place finish in the W&L Invitational.
Tucker completed the 8k course in 28:45 and finished over 14
seconds faster than the second-place finisher. As a team, the
Generals placed second with 31 points, just three points behind
Mary Washington.
Schultz led the Generals to a second-place team finish, just four
points behind Mary Washington, by placing second overall. In her
first collegiate race, Schultz completed the 5k course with a time
of 20:41, four seconds behind the race winner.
The W&L men return to action on Saturday as they compete in
the Guilford Invitational. The women will race again on Sept.
26 in the Roanoke Invitational held at the Mowels Spring Park.
