NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Washington and Lee men’s and
women’s cross country teams were both honored as U.S. Track
& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic
Teams as announces by the USTFCCCA recently.
The W&L men’s team was one of 110 men’s NCAA Division III programs honored, while the women’s team was one of 153 women’s teams recognized. Reigning national champion UW-Eau Claire earned the top spot on the women’s side, while national runner-up Williams was the top honoree for the men.
The men’s team sported a team grade point average of 3.36 and the women had an overall GPA of 3.34.
The W&L women’s team earned a second-place finish at the ODAC Championship meet and wrapped up its season with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional. The men’s team captured third at the conference championships and ended its season with an eighth-place finish at the regional meet.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
