W&L Men's Cross Country Takes Third at ODAC Championships
SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men’s cross country
team finished in third place at the ODAC Cross Country
Championships hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon.
Lynchburg won the event with 33 points and Virginia Wesleyan took
second with 48 points. W&L finished in third place with 81
total points, while Bridgewater (99), Roanoke (148), Guilford
(171), Eastern Mennonite (221), Emory & Henry (231),
Hampden-Sydney (233) and Randolph rounded out the finishers.
First-year Harrison Tucker (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher) was the
General’s top finisher as he took 10th place with a time of
28:17. Robert Warneford-Thomson (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal)
finished 12th with a mark of 28:30. Tucker and Warneford-Thomson
both garnered Second Team All-ODAC honors for their efforts, while
Warneford-Thomson also took home the ODAC Scholar-Athlete
award.
Junior Rob George (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) finished
in16th place with a time of 28:54, senior Ben Stutts (Beverly
Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills) finished in 21st with a time of 29:12,
sophomore Matt Gossett (Atlanta, Ga./Wesleyan School) finished in
22nd place with a mark of 29:24 and sophomore Ryan Henner (Avondale
Estates, Ga./Chamblee) rounded out the Generals’ finishers
with a time of 29:41, which was good for 26th place.
The W&L men’s cross country team will now compete in the
NCAA South/Southeast Regional meet on Sat., Nov. 14, at Guilford
College. The race is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
