W&L Men's Cross Country Captures Guilford XC Festival
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee men’s cross country team had five runners place among the Top 11 en route to winning the Guilford Cross Country Festival on Saturday morning.
W&L’s team total of 34 points was 24 points better
than that of the second-place team, Bridgewater (58). Wingate (74),
St. Andrew’s (111), Guilford (152) and Catholic (165) rounded
out the team finishes.
Junior Joe Stusek (Bozeman, Mont./Billings West) was one of two
Generals to finish in the Top 5 as he recorded a third-place finish
with a time of 27:21. First-year Harrison Tucker (Richmond, Va./St.
Christopher’s) took fourth overall with a mark of 27:33.
Sophomore Robert Warneford-Thomson (Richmond, Va./Trinity
Episcopal) finished in seventh-place (27:36) and first-year Tyler
Gehrs (Alexandria, Va./St. Andrew’s) finished in ninth place
with a time of 27:53.
Junior Rob George (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) was the
final General finisher, as he recorded a time of 27:58, which was
good for 11th place.
Both the W&L men’s and women’s cross country teams
return to action on Saturday when they take part in the Roanoke
Invitational.
