Sims Wins Pole Vault to Pace Generals on Day 1 of Bast-Cregger Invite

SALEM, Va. — Sophomore Shep Sims (Charleston, W.Va./Woodberry Forest School) won the pole vault on Friday at the Roanoke Bast-Cregger Invitational to lead the Washington and Lee men's track and field team on day one of the meet.

Highlights From the Meet

  • The Generals had two athletes in the Top 5 in the pole vault. Sims tied for first at 4.40m (14'5.25"), and junior Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill/Princeton) tied for fifth with a leap of 3.65m (11'11.75").
  • Junior Hank Patrick (Baton Rouge, La./University Laboratory School) led a trio of runners in the 5,000m with a fifth-place finish (15:56.76).
  • First-year Jack Teagle (Gloucester, Va./Hampton Roads Academy) claimed eighth in the high jump at 1.78m (5'10.00") to pace three Blue and White competitors.
