Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 216 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

W&L Men's Track and Field Places Fourth at ODAC's
Senior Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) won the 100m, as the Washington and Lee men’s track and field team finished fourth out of nine teams at the Outdoor ODAC Championship on Saturday hosted by Bridgewater.

Washington and Lee sophomore Patrick Robertson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) earned his first individual conference title in the hammer throw on day one of 2015 ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday at Bridgewater.

The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team participated in its first meet of 2015 at the Liberty Open on Friday and Saturday. Sophomore Ian McDonald’s (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) first-place finish in the 3,000m highlighted the Generals’ performance at the competition, which featured Division I, II and III teams.

Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 224 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The total contains 34 more athletes than any previous fall term and is 14 more than in any previous winter term.

The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team began the 2014-15 season at the CNU Holiday Open on Saturday. The Generals competed against Division I, II and III schools.

The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team recorded a third-place finish at both the indoor and outdoor ODAC Championships last season. While the team had some success at the conference level, Head Coach Brandon Uhl’s target for the 2014-15 team is to be competing for the top spot.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Division III Men’s Scholar Athletes of the Year and the All-Academic honorees recently, and Washington and Lee had three athletes garner All-Academic laurels. The Generals were also named a USTFCCCA 2014 All-Academic Team.
