LINCOLN, Neb. — Washington and Lee senior Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) finished eighth in the 400m prelims at the Division III NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship on Friday hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan to qualify for the finals on Saturday.
Competing in the second of four heats, Tallman finished third out of four runners with a time of 48.61. The Top 8 times in the four heats advanced to the finals, and his time was the eighth-best. Sophomore Tom Sippie of Lynchburg recorded the fastest time in the prelims at 47.93.
Junior Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) competed in the 60m prelims, but failed to qualify for Saturday's final, finishing with a time of 6.90. It tied his W&L school record, which he last set at the ODAC Championship. Eight runners advanced to the finals, and Jeong finished 12th out of 15 competitors.

The 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship is held on a 200m banked track, and any time in a race at or over 200m has to be converted to a 200m flat track time for W&L record keeping purposes.
