CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team competed at two meets on Saturday. The throwers attended the UNC Joe Hilton Invitational, while the rest of the team was at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational.
At the UNC meet, the Generals finished third, fourth and sixth in the javelin. Sophomore Eddie Barnes (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) claimed third with a throw of 57.59m (188'11.00"), senior Dylan Mills (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul's) was fourth at 54.96m (180'04.00") and junior Kevin Sullivan (Sandwich, Mass./Tabor) took sixth with a mark of 51.35m (168'06.00").
In the hammer throw, junior Jordan Yost (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) came in sixth with a personal best of 43.90m (144'00.00"). Barnes also threw a season best in the discus at 39.59m (129'11.00").
At the Johnson C. Smith Invitational, junior David Fishman (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) was the lone winner. He claimed first in the pole vault with a jump of 4.10m (13'05.25"). Junior Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) had two Top 3 finishes. He placed second in the 400H, with a season-best time of 54.61. He also finished third in the high jump at 1.83m (6'00.00").
In the 400m, junior Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) had a season-best time of 47.93 in taking fifth. Junior Mac Keers (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) registered a personal best time at 52.17. Junior Jonathan Sells (Brandon, Fla./C. Leon King) claimed seventh in the long jump at 6.36m (20'10.50").
Sophomore Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) came in seventh in the 100m in 11.00. In the 800m, senior Wayde Marsh (Milford, Del./Salesianum) took eighth (1:58.60) in his first race of the season. The 4x400m relay also claimed third in 3:19.00. The combo consisted of Tallman, Myers, junior Parker Howard (Naperville, Ill./Nequea Valley) and first-year Thomas Dunbar (Jackson, Miss./Jackson Prep)
The Generals host the ODAC Championship on Friday and Saturday at Wilson Field.
