MARIETTA, Ohio — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team opened its 2013 schedule at the Marietta Ice Breaker on Saturday, and left with three event winners and had 11 Top 3 finishes. The Generals finished second out of five teams with 114 points. Marietta claimed the top spot with 199 points.
Junior Agustin Kim (La Habra, Calif./Troy) led the Generals with two wins. He crossed the finish line first in the 55m at 6.61, and took the top spot in the 200m at 23.56. The other winner for W&L was first-year Thomas Dunbar (Jackson, Miss./Jackson Prep). He claimed first in the 400m with a time of 52.31.
Washington and Lee earned four second-place finishes. First-year Ryan Duncan (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Chadwick School)cleared 1.79m in the high jump for second, and Junior Jonathan Sells (Brandon, Fla./C. Leon King) came in second in the long jump at 6.13 meters. In the pole vault, junior David Fishman (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) finished at 3.95 meters to take second, and first-year Kirk Kaczmarek (Springfield, Mo./Springfield Catholic) crossed the finish line second in the 400m at 54.44.
In the long jump, junior Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) took third at 6.03m. Junior Parker Howard (Naperville, Ill./Nequea Valley) registered two third-place finishes. He came in third in the 400m with a time of 54.45, and third in the 200m at 24.25. Z also finished third in the 300m with a time of 38.72.
The Generals return to action in two weeks when they compete at the Denison Invitational on January 26.
