LYNCHBURG, Va. — In its first competition of the 2012-13 season, the men's track and field team competed against Division I, II and III schools at the Liberty Kick Off on Saturday. The Generals had four competitors finish in the Top 3 among Division III athletes, and another two in the Top 5.
Junior Agustin Kim (La Habra, Calif./Troy) was the top Division III runner in the 60m with a time of 7.13. He took 14th overall. Also in the 60m, junior Parker Howard (Naperville, Ill./Nequea Valley) finished in 7.36 (26th overall and third in D III). Kim took 13th in the 200m in 23:62 with only one other D-III athlete besting him in the race.
In the 400m, first-year Thomas Dunbar (Jackson, Miss./Jackson Prep) finished sixth overall (51.34) and placed second among Division III athletes.
First-year Davis Turner (East Point, Ga./The Howard School) came in ninth in the high jump (second of D-III competitors) at 1.84m, and first-year Ryan Duncan tied for 10th (4th in D-III) with a mark of 1.79m.
Junior Jordan Yost (Shoreline, Wash./Shorewood) finished seventh in the weight throw (13.18m), while coming in fourth out of Division III athletes.
The Generals will take the rest of December off for break, and will return to competition at the Marietta Invitational on January 12.
