W&L Men's T&F Begins 2011-12 season at Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's track & field team began its 2011-12 season on day one of the Liberty Kickoff event on Friday afternoon at Liberty University.

Sophomore Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) was the lone General competing, as he wrapped up day one of the heptathlon with a total of 2,242 points. Competing in the event for the first time and as the only NCAA Division III competitor in the field, Mills sits in 14th place out of 18 athletes after day one.

In the 60m dash, Mills posted a time of 7.50 and followed that with a mark of 5.99 meters in the long jump, 8.72 meters in the shot put and 1.69 meters in the high jump.

Mills and the rest of the Generals' roster will begin day two of the meet on Saturday beginning at 9:00 am.
