NEW York, N.Y. – The Washington and Lee men's track & field team broke three school records in a strong performance at the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games and the New York Armory on Friday afternoon.
Competing against NCAA Division I, II and III schools, the Generals were paced by the 4x400 meter relay team which posted a school-record time of 3:21.81. The team, comprised of senior Tyler Grant (Suwanee, Ga./South Forsyth), sophomore Steven Colliau (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena), and first-years Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) and Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood), now owns the eighth-fastest time in all of Div. III this year.
Tallman also finished seventh overall in the 400m with a time of 49.98 and he posted a time of 22.82 in the 200m.
First-year Kane Thomas (Seattle, Wash./Shorewood) set a new school record in the 800m, finishing in fifth place with a time of 1:57.46. First-year Cole Glasgow (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) finished in eighth place in the 60m and tied his own school record with a mark of 7.19.
Junior Matt Gossett (Atlanta, Ga./Welseyan) earned a Top 10 finish with a time of 4:24.45 in the mile, good for ninth overall.
The Generals return to the track next Saturday when they compete at the Dickinson Invitational beginning at 10:00 am.
