NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) recently announced its 2010 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and the Washington and Lee men’s and women’s teams were among those honored.
The W&L men’s team was among 68 teams that received recognition as it posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.28, while the women’s team was one of 106 teams honored with an overall GPA of 3.29.
W&L captured five individual ODAC titles at the 2010 ODAC Outdoor Championship meet as senior Kat Telfeyan (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) won the 1,5000 meters (4:47.71) and the 5,000 meters (18:40.87). First-year Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:07.44), sophomore Natalie Stier (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) won the 400 meter hurdles with an ODAC- and school-record time of 1:04.45. On the men’s side, first-year Dylan Mills (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul’s) took first place in the javelin with a school-record throw of 52.82 meters.
To be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a team must post at least a 3.1 cumulative GPA.
