SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee sophomore track and field athlete Tyler Grant (Suwanee, Ga./South Forsyth) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Grant was the top Division III finisher in the heptathlon posting a school-record point total of 4,020 points at the Liberty Open on Friday and Saturday. He bested the old mark of 2,675 set by Michael Keenan in 2008.
He posted times of 7.56 seconds in the 60 meter dash, 9.36 in the 60 meter hurdles, 2:25.69 in the 1,000 meters, cleared 2.95 meters in the pole vault, heaved the shot put 10.18 meters, leapt 5.72 meters in the long jump and cleared 1.71 meters in the high jump.
The Washington and Lee men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams return to action on Saturday as they compete at the VMI Relays beginning at 9:00 am.
