SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team was defeated by 20th-ranked Sewanee by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Sewanee, Tenn.
The Tigers claimed all three doubles matches, including the No. 1 doubles match via a tiebreaker. In singles, sophomore Harry Shepherd (Ridgewood, N.J. / St. George's School) posted a win at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-0, but the Generals were defeated in the other five for the final score. The matches were extremely competitive, with three matches going to a third set.
With the loss, the Generals fell to 8-5 overall. Sewanee improved to 19-5.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it travels to Guilford for a 1:00 pm match.
