INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced on Wednesday the individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships.
Washington and Lee senior Jordan Krasner (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson) was selected to the 32-player field for the singles championship, which will be held on May 25-27 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Krasner is the first W&L men's player to earn a bid to the NCAA singles or doubles championship since Michael Holt '16 and Taylor Shamshiri '15 made the doubles field in 2014. He is also the first W&L male selected to the singles field since Hayden White '13 competed in four straight championships from 2010-13.
Krasner is the eighth-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South Region and was recently named the ODAC Player of the Year for the second time in his career. He carries a 15-9 singles record into the NCAA Championship and he ranks 11th in program history for career singles wins with a 63-33 career record.
W&L won the ODAC title with a 16-6 overall record and received the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Team Championship. The Generals have a first-round bye and will face Sewanee in the second round on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
