W&L Men's Tennis Downs Virginia Wesleyan, 5-0
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team recorded a 5-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Friday evening at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
W&L swept the doubles points and then notched wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles as the match was played to decision. Senior Hayden White (Baltimore, Md./Towson) and sophomore Taylor Shamshiri (Austin, Texas/ATA College Prep) posted singles wins in straight sets as the Generals won their sixth straight match.
The win improved W&L to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The loss dropped the Marlins to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the ODAC.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday afternoon as it travels to Mary Washington for a 2:00 pm match with the Eagles.
