SALEM, Va. – Washington and Lee sophomore Michael Freeman (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 28.
Freeman helped lead the Generals to a 2-2 week by posting a 3-1 record in singles play. He began the week with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lynchburg’s Kristian Richardson at No. 1 singles in a 9-0 victory over the Hornets on Tuesday. He then fell to No. 14 Chicago’s Harrison Adams at No. 5 singles (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) in a 6-3 loss to the Maroons on Wednesday. On Saturday, he posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Michael Chang at No. 6 singles in a 7-2 loss to eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins and on Sunday, Freeman posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Malikm Mubeen in a 7-2 win over Swarthmore.
For the season, Freeman has posted an 11-4 record while playing a variety of singles positions. A First Team All-ODAC selection at No. 5 singles last season, Freeman has posted a 29-14 singles record over his first two seasons.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Bridgewater for a 3:00 pm contest.
