
Washington and Lee University held its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 15 at Lee Chapel. Headlining the award winners were senior soccer player Kat Lawson (White Post, Va./Clarke County) and senior football player Charlie Westfal (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), who were selected as the “Pres” Brown Outstanding Senior Female and Male Athletes of the Year as voted on by members of the department.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released its 2012 winter postgraduate scholarship winners and Washington and Lee claimed two honorees among the 29 Division I, II and III men that were recognized.

Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 185 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

Washington and Lee University will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Athletic Hall of Fame in ceremonies on campus the weekend of September 14-15. W&L has announced that five new members will join the 112 former athletes, coaches, administrators and support staff, who have already been honored as the University’s best.
