W&L Men's Swimming Places 13th at NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team tallied 60.5 points to finish 13th out of 54 teams at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships held at the IU Natatorium on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis on Saturday evening.

Highlights From the Meet:

  • Senior Tommy Thetford (Birmingham, Ala. / The Altamont) earned Honorable Mention All-America Honors for the ninth time in his career after claiming 16th in the 100-yard free with a time of 45.16.
  • The 400-yard free relay of first-year Patrick Sullivan (Pawleys Island, S.C. / Waccamaw), senior Corey Connelly (Belleair, Fla. / Palm Harbor University), sophomore Evan Kramer (Taylors, S.C. / Eastside) and Thetford set a new school record and earned Honorable Mention All-America honors after finishing ninth with a time of 3:01.77.  
  • Sullivan competed in the 100 free and finished in 31st with a time 45.52.
  • Denison claimed the title with 596.5 points, while Emory finished second with 369.5 points and Kenyon tallied 322 markers four third.
