    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced on Thursday that Washington and Lee has swept the league’s Commissioner’s Cups for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

    The Washington and Lee Department of Athletics held its annual Athletics Awards Ceremony at Lee Chapel on Tuesday evening.  The event, made possible by the generosity of the Brookby Family, honors student-athletes and administrators who have made the 2016-17 school year a tremendous success.

    The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Academic All-America All-District At-Large men’s teams on Thursday, and Washington and Lee had two athletes honored.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 233 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its all-conference swimming teams and Washington and Lee had 18 men’s swimmers recognized.
  • 24 Holds "Be the Match" Registration Drive

    On Saturday, February 4, the Washington and Lee University student organization 24 held a “Be The Match” bone marrow registration drive in the Warner Center and had over 87 people register during the event.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its weekly awards on Monday for the week ending January 22, and Washington and Lee first-year Ali MacQueen (Memphis, Tenn. / St. Mary’s Episcopal School) and junior Noah Schammel (Greenville, S.C. / St. Joseph’s) were named ODAC Swimmers of the Week.
  • W&L Men's Swimming Takes First at York Tri-Meet

    The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee men’s swimming team set four new pool records at York College on Saturday, defeating the host Spartans by a score of 174.5-85.5 and knocking off Marymount, 201-46.
  • Yates and Logue Garner ODAC Athlete of the Week Honors

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its Athletes of the Week on Monday for the week ending January 15, and Washington and Lee sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala. / St. Paul’s School) was named the Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while first-year Sam Logue (Fallston, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) earned the Men’s Swimmer of the Week honor.
  • W&L Men's Swimming Tops Catholic, 172-84
    January 14, 2017
    The 23rd ranked Washington and Lee men’s swimming team defeated Catholic, 172-84, on Saturday at Cy Twombly Pool. This was the Generals’ final meet in the Cy Twombly Pool, as the team will compete in the new W&L Natatorium next season.

    Washington and Lee athletics will be well represented among the four honorary and 39 student initiates at Washington and Lee University’s annual Founders Day/ODK Convocation on Jan. 19 at 5:00 pm in Lee Chapel.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 242 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 224 set during the fall of 2014.

    The Washington and Lee men’s swim team completed the final day of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Sunday. The Generals earned 1401.5 points and placed second out of 10 teams. Delaware finished in first with 1629 points.

    The Washington and Lee men’s swimming team currently sits in second place out of 10 teams with 904 points, behind Delaware (998) after day two of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.

    The Washington and Lee men’s swim team earned 275 points on day one of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational to sit in second-place out of 10 teams. The Generals sit just behind first-place Delaware that earned 283 points on the first day.

    Junior Tommy Thetford (Birmingham, Ala. / The Altamont) and first-year Ali MacQueen (Memphis, Tenn. / St. Mary’s Episcopal School) earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week honors for the week ending October 23.
  • W&L Men's Swimming Downs R-MC, 162-96

    Junior Tommy Thetford (Birmingham, Ala. / The Altamont) won three individual events and swam on one winning relay to lead the Washington and Lee men’s swimming team to a 162-96 victory over Randolph-Macon on Friday at Cy Twombly Pool.
