W&L Men's Soccer Ranked Fifth in United Soccer Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches released its weekly ranking on Tuesday and Washington and Lee moved up to the fifth spot, the program’s highest-ever ranking in the coaches poll.

The Generals were ranked fifth in the D3soccer.com poll on October 2, 2016. W&L was ranked eighth in last week’s poll, which had been the highest ranking the Generals have ever received in the United Soccer Coaches poll (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America).

W&L is currently 6-0-1 overall and 1-0 in ODAC play. Most recently the Blue and White defeated Randolph-Macon on Saturday, 3-2. Junior midfielder Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C./Independence) leads the Generals with seven points on two goals and three assists, while junior midfielder Viktor Dolberg (Clovis, Calif./Buchanan) ranks second with five points.

The University of Chicago (8-0) remained at the top of the poll, while Calvin (8-0) took the second spot. Tufts (5-0-1) and Trinity (Texas) (8-1-0) ranked third and fourth, respectively.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday, when it travels to Lynchburg for a 7:00 pm contest.
