W&L Men's Soccer Selected to Host First and Second Round of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2017 Division III Men's Soccer Tournament field on Monday afternoon and the Washington and Lee men's soccer team will host first and second round action this weekend.

The Generals will entertain Mary Washington in the first round at Watt Field on Saturday at 1:30 pm. The other first-round contest that will be played at W&L will be between Oglethorpe and N.C. Wesleyan at 11:00 am.

W&L is 14-4-1 overall and received an at-large bid after falling to 15th-ranked Lynchburg, 2-1, in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship. The Blue and White is making its third straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Eagles are 15-4-1 overall and won the Capital Athletic Conference title on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Christopher Newport.

Oglethorpe is 16-2-1 overall and received an automatic bid after claiming a 2-1 victory over Centre in the Southern Athletic Association Championship. N.C. Wesleyan is 15-5 overall and also earned an automatic bid after winning the USA South conference title with a 1-0 victory over Maryville.

The Generals are 7-7-1 all-time against Mary Washington. The last meeting between the two teams was during the 2006 season with W&L claiming a 1-0 victory.

The winners of Saturday's games will advance to the second-round and play on Sunday at W&L at 1:00 pm.
