Six Generals Garner Men's Soccer All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2017 men's soccer all-conference teams on Thursday and Washington and Lee had six players honored, including senior goalkeeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg), who earned the Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award.

Junior midfielder Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian School) and sophomore defender Oliver Dolberg (Clovis, Calif. / Buchanan) each earned first-team laurels, while senior midfielder Andrew Kim (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) garnered second-team honors. Beck was joined on the third team by junior forward Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) and first-year forward Harry Pinkerton (Suwanee, Ga. / North Gwinnett).

A three-time all-conference honoree, Hamryka has started 18 games for the Generals. He leads the team with five goals, while also dishing out one assist. Hamryka's 11 points ranks third on the squad.

Dolberg has appeared in 14 games as part of the Generals' defensive unit. A two-time First Team All-ODAC honoree, Dolberg has helped the defense post a 0.78 goals-against average and eight shutouts, which both rank third in the conference. He has also tallied eight points on four goals.

Kim has started 18 games in the Blue and White's midfield. He has tallied four goals, five assists and 13 points, which all rank second on the team. He has also notched a team-best three game-winning goals this season. A two-time all-conference honoree, Kim has tallied 36 points on 13 goals and 10 assists for his career.

A three-time all-conference honoree, Beck has started 18 games for the Generals. He has recorded 55 saves for a save percentage of .797 in 1574:57 minutes of action. The mathematics and physics double-major ranks fourth in the conference with a 0.80 goals-against average and fifth with 14 goals-against. This is the second straight year that Beck has received the scholar-athlete award. For his career, he ranks in the Top 5 in program history with a 0.82 goals-against average and 15 shutouts, while also registering 174 career saves.

Ritch has appeared in 18 games for W&L and leads the Generals with 14 points and six assists, while also tallying four goals. A two-time all-conference honoree, Ritch's six assists are tied for second in the league.

Pinkerton has appeared in all 19 games for W&L and is tied for third on the team with 11 points on four goals and three assists. He has also tallied two game-winning goals.

Senior midfielder Nate Berning of Lynchburg was named the ODAC Player of the Year, Chris Yeager of Lynchburg earned the Coach of the Year honor and Lynchburg first-year defender Bhayle Kearns garnered the Rookie of the Year accolade.

The Generals are currently 14-4-1 overall and received an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. W&L will host the first and second rounds of the tournament, and the Generals will take on Mary Washington on Saturday at 1:30 pm at Watt Field.
