LEXINGTON, Va. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2016 Division III Academic All-District men’s soccer team on Thursday and Washington and Lee had two players selected to the 13-member District 5 team.
Junior goalkeeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) and senior defender Dylan Stroud (Chester, N.J. / Delbarton School) each earned the honor.
A mathematics and physics double-major, Beck garnered the honor after making 36 saves and posting a .735 save percentage this season for the Generals. Last season, Beck notched six shutouts and had an ODAC best 0.64 goals-against average, earning him First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-Region laurels.
Stroud earned all-district honors as a business administration and art history double-major. He has scored three goals this season for a total of six points. Stroud has also helped the defense post six shutouts and a 0.92 goals-against average. Last season, Stroud helped the defensive unit post 11 shutouts while recording a 0.71 goals-against average.
Washington and Lee is 12-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season. The Generals play their final regular season game on Saturday at Bridgewater at 1:00 pm.
With their First Team All-District selections, both athletes will now go on the national ballot to be considered for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
