LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore midfielder Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) netted the game-winning goal in the 31st minute to give the Washington and Lee men's soccer team a 2-0 victory over Randolph on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Ritch scored at the 30:11 mark after collecting sophomore midfielder Viktor Dolberg's (Clovis, Calif. / Buchannan) shot that hit off the post and right to Ritch. W&L would take the 1-0 lead into intermission.
Sophomore midfielder Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian) would give the Generals (12-3, 6-1) an insurance goal after he scored on a penalty kick at the 84:15 mark.
W&L outshot the WildCats, 16-13, and held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) played the full 90 minutes and made three stops for the Generals. First-year goalkeeper Erick Cortez-Martinez also played the full game and made one save. Randolph also had one team save.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host Roanoke at 3:30 pm.
