LEXINGTON, Va. – Four different players scored to help the seventh-ranked Washington and Lee men's soccer team a 4-0 victory over ODAC opponent Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday evening at Watt Field.
Sophomore midfielder Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) gave the Generals all the scoring they would need early on when he scored off of a penalty kick in the fifth minute.
The lead grew to 2-0 at the 23:58 mark when sophomore midfielder Kevin Lencioni (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) crossed the ball into the middle of the box, finding the feet of senior defender Patrick Barry (West Roxbury, Mass. / Roxbury Latin School), who placed the ball into the corner of the net to give the Generals a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore forward Tyler Runge (Manassas, Va. / Forest Park) scored W&L's (7-1, 2-0 ODAC) third goal at the 37:49 mark after receiving a cross from sophomore midfielder Andy Dean (Columbia, Tenn. / Columbia Central).
First-year defender Oliver Dolberg (Clovis, Calif. / Buchanan) scored the only goal of the second half after receiving a cross into the six-yard box from Lencioni in the 59th minute.
Washington and Lee outshot the Royals 20-5 and both teams took six corner kicks. Junior Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) played 79 minutes in goal for the Generals and made one save. Senior goalkeeper Connor Hayward (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) also saw 12 minutes of action for W&L.
Junior Matthew Overacker played all 90 minutes for EMU (5-4-2, 0-1 ODAC) and made six saves.
W&L returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Hampden-Sydney at 3:00 pm.
