ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's soccer team picked up its fifth conference win with a 2-0 victory over the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Generals moved to 7-1-5 on the season and 4-1-2 in the ODAC, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 4-7-3 and 1-4-3 in conference play.
Junior forward Zach Colby (Prairie Village, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) led the offensive attack with two goals. He started the scoring in the sixth minute with an unassisted tally. He then scored his second goal of the game at the 82:00 mark after he beat the keeper from 10 yards out.
Junior keeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa./Sewickley Academy) recorded the shutout, playing all 90 minutes in goal and stopping four shots. Chris Lowe also played the entire game in goal for the Yellow Jackets and made three saves.
For the game, the Blue and White outshot the Yellow Jackets, 11-7, but both teams recorded three corner kicks.
W&L returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Emory & Henry for a 4:00 pm contest.
