LEXINGTON, Va. – Junior midfielder Parker Wolfinger (Greer, S.C./Riverside) scored just 20 seconds into the contest to lead the second-seeded Washington and Lee men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over seventh-seeded Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals at Watt Field.
After picking up a thru ball in front of the net, Wolfinger dribbled around defenders to net the contest's lone goal and put the Generals up 1-0 in the first minute.
BC's (10-8) offense tried throughout the game tie the score, as four of its nine shots were on goal, but the Hornets could not find the back of the net.
W&L (11-4-2) held an advantage in both shots, 15-9, and corner kicks, 6-4.
In net for the Blue and White was sophomore Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa./Sewickley Academy), who registered four saves in 90:00 and claimed the shutout.
Sophomore TJ Martin (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) spent the entire game in goal for the Eagles, collecting three saves and one goal-against.
The Generals advance to the ODAC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, where they will host the winner of the Virginia Wesleyan-Lynchburg game.
