LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's soccer team played to a double-overtime 0-0 tie against Randolph on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
Despite holding an 11-4 shot advantage in the opening half, W&L (9-3-2, 6-1-2 ODAC) could not find the back of the net. Randolph (6-5-3, 4-3-2 ODAC) regrouped in the second half and held a 9-4 edge in shots for the remaining 65 minutes of action, but sophomore Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa./Sewickley Academy) held the WildCats at bay, recording six saves as the Generals posted their eighth shutout of the season.
For the game, W&L outshot Randolph, 15-13, and the Generals held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior Carter Smith (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) played the entire contest in goal for the WildCats, making one save.
W&L returns to action on Saturday, when its travels to Roanoke for a 1:00 pm contest.
