ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The College of New Jersey junior forward Luigi Moriello netted two goals as the Lions cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Washington and Lee men's soccer team on Saturday evening at the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic.
TCNJ (1-3-1) first-year midfielder Sean Casey put the Lions on the board quickly, notching an unassisted marker in the 3rd minute of the match. Moriello added his first goal of the evening just five minutes later to put TCNJ up 2-0 at the 7:23 mark. He then went on to add his second tally of the game, an unassisted goal, in the 24th minute to give the Lions a 3-0 lead, which they would take into the half.
The Lions' final goal of the evening came in the 81st minute when sophomore midfielder Kevin Shaw found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore defender Vince McEnroe to secure the 4-0 victory.
In net for the Generals (0-1-1), junior Ben Petitto (Gainesville, Fla./St. Francis Catholic) took the loss, recording five saves and three goals against in 78:29 of action. Senior William Dorrance (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) recorded 11:31 of playing time, allowing one goal. Sophomore netminder Aaron Utman played all 90:00 for the Lions, tallying four saves.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday as they open the ODAC season against Randolph at Watt Field. Game time is 4:00 pm.
