LEXINGTON, Va. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association (USILA) has announced that Washington and Lee sophomore midfielder Jack Hodgson (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's) has been named to the Division III Team of the Week for the week ending March 19.
Hodgson was named to the 10-person team after a helping the Generals to a 2-0 week with wins over then third-ranked Gettysburg (13-8) and Randolph-Macon (12-6). He won 26-of-39 (.667) faceoffs, picked up 13 ground balls and scored two goals across the two games.
In the win over Gettysburg, Hodgson helped W&L control possession by claiming 16-of-23 faceoffs with five ground balls. He also scored one goal in what was W&L's first win over a Top 5 opponent in three seasons. He followed that performance with 10 faceoff wins in 16 chances, eight ground balls and one goal in the league win over the Yellow Jackets.
For the season, Hodgson has won 114-of-187 (.610) faceoffs and collected 39 ground balls. He has also registered four goals and two assists in nine games played.
Washington and Lee is 6-3 overall and is riding a six-game winning streak. The Generals are 2-0 in ODAC play and host 10th-ranked Roanoke on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
