W&L Men's Lacrosse Earns NCAA Tournament Bid
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2013 Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament field on Sunday evening and Washington and Lee received an at-large bid.
The Generals (15-4) will host a first round game on Wednesday against Sewanee (14-3), winners of the Southern Athletic Association. The two teams have met twice prior, with W&L winning both contests. The first was a 22-3 win in Lexington during the 2009 season, and the second was a 13-4 win at Sewanee in 2010.
The Tigers are coached by Marty Watters, who served as an assistant coach at W&L in 2004. He is in his sixth season with the Tigers and has led his team to their first NCAA Tournament bid.
Washington and Lee is competing in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 10th time and the first since the 2009 season. The Generals have advanced to the semifinals on three occasions.
