W&L Men's Lax Ekes Out an 8-6 win Over Randolph-Macon
ASHLAND, Va. – The 11th-ranked Washington and Lee men’s lacrosse team recovered from a 2-1 halftime deficit to post an 8-6 victory over Randolph-Macon in ODAC men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
The Generals (8-2, 2-0 ODAC) trailed 1-0 until 2:57 remained in the first half when first-year attackman Jack Switala (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) scored unassisted. However, the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 1-1 ODAC) responded just 45 seconds later on an unassisted goal by sophomore attackman Tyler Midwinter for a 2-1 lead that they carried into the break.
W&L evened the score at 2-2 with 9:26 left in the third period when senior midfielder Chris Washington (Flint, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) scored unassisted. Senior midfielder Kevin Feeney (Summit, N.J./Summit) won the ensuing faceoff and found rope just 20 seconds later to give the Generals their first lead of the game at 3-2. Senior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) kept the run going with an unassisted goal at 4:16 and senior midfielder Logan Barlett (Summit, N.J./Pingry School) made it 5-2 with a goal off an assist from junior attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) at 3:55. Feeney then won another faceoff and scored just 11 seconds later to make it 6-2 and cap W&L’s five-goal run.
R-MC sophomore attackman Jake Leddy stopped the bleeding with a goal off an assist from Midwinter just 10 seconds into the fourth period, but Daw and senior midfielder Max Macuso (Northport, N.Y./Northport) each scored unassisted to give W&L an 8-3 advantage with 9:18 left in the game.
