W&L's Keigler Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior lacrosse player Will
Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) has been selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN
The Magazine College Division Academic All-District III At-Large
squad as a first team selection.
Keigler was among 10 athletes selected to the team from a grouping
of 25 different sports among small colleges in Virginia, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The criteria for
the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states that a player must
be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important
reserve, and claim a GPA of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
Keigler will now go on the national ballot where he could earn
Academic All-America honors.
A First Team All-ODAC and Honorable Mention All-America selection
this spring, Keigler started all 20 games on attack and led the
team in scoring with 78 points on 42 goals and 36 assists. His 78
points are tied for the fifth-highest season total in school
history.
A three-year starter, Keigler will enter his senior season tied for
16th all-time at W&L with 149 career points (73 G, 76 A). His
76 career assists also rank 11th in school history.
Washington and Lee finished the 2009 season with a 16-4 overall
record and a 4-2 ODAC mark. The Generals tied the school record for
wins in a season and won their first ODAC title since the 2004
season by defeating top-ranked Roanoke in the ODAC title game,
15-14 in overtime. W&L won its first round NCAA Tournament game
over FDU-Florham, 6-5 in overtime, before falling to Gettysburg,
15-10.
