HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team remains in 11th-place after the third day of competition at the NCAA Division III Championship held at the Mission Inn Resort on Thursday.
The Top 18 teams made the cut following the first two rounds and the Generals carded a 306 on the El Campeon Course on Thursday to produce a three-day score of 300-306-306—912 (+48) that has them still in 11th-place out of the 18 remaining teams.
Wittenberg took over the team lead with a three-day total of 298-290-299—887 (+23). Fellow ODAC member Guilford is in second, just two strokes back with a 300-293-296—889 (+25). Huntingdon dropped to third with a 293-291-306—890 (+26).
Sam Hill of Texas-Tyler and Brad Lankler of Franklin & Marshall are tied for the individual lead at +1. Hill has posted a total of 74-73-70—217 and Lankler claims a 71-74-72—217.
W&L is paced by first-year Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy), who is tied for 25th out of the 96 remaining golfers with a +8 score of 75-74-75—224.
Junior Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) is second among the Generals and is tied for 50th overall with a 76-79-75—230 (+14). Senior Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) is one stroke back in a tie for 53rd with a three-round score of 76-77-78—231 (+15).
Senior Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) and first-year Robert Quinilty (Cypress, Texas / Houston Christian) are both tied for 57th overall at +16. McDonald has fired a 73-80-79—232 and Quinilty has posted a 78-76-78—232.
Friday's fourth round will complete the competition at the NCAA Division III Championship.
