WINCHESTER, Va. – Washington and Lee fired a 298 to tie for second-place out of 12 teams at the Virginia State Intercollegiate held at the Winchester Country Club on Monday.
Hampden-Sydney claimed the team championship after posting a +3 score of 287. The Generals finished in a second-place tie with Bridgewater.
Individually for W&L, sophomore Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) finished as the runner-up. Playing in his first tournament of the year, Corcoran notched an even-par score of 71.
First-year Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) shot a 75, while classmates Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) and Spencer Payne (Davenport, Iowa / Pleasant Valley) both carded a 76. First-year Cody Solomon (Peachtree Corners, Ga. / Wesleyan School) added a 78.
Washington and Lee returns to action on October 28-29 when it participates in the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford at the Sedgefield-Dye Course in Greensboro, N.C.
