HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team opened its 2013-14 season at the Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater College at the Lakeview Golf Course on Saturday.
The Generals shot an opening round score of 302 and rank fourth out of 18 teams following the first day of competition. The host Eagles lead the event with a 295, seven strokes ahead of W&L.
The Bridgewater duo of Tyler Weeks and Matthew Dye and Hampden-Sydney's Brian Burt are all tied for the individual lead after shooting a one-under par score of 71.
Washington and Lee is paced by junior Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School), who is tied for eighth overall out of 89 competitors with a 73 (+1). First-Year Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) is tied for 17th with a 75, while fellow rookie Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) is tied for 21st with a 76.
Action continues on Sunday with the second and final round from Lakeview.
